Rodney R Ranard

Rodney R. Ranard, 63, of Dugger, IN passed away at 3:39 AM Tuesday June 27, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

            He was born in Sullivan, IN June 14, 1954 the son of Bill Ranard and Wanda Thompson Ranard  .

            Rod graduated from Union High School in 1972, and Purdue University in 1975, was a retired coal miner from Black Beauty Mine, and a member of the Church of Christ in Dugger, IN. He enjoyed working in his garage, helping all his friends and neighbors.  He also loved boating, fishing, and attending his grandchildren’s various activities.

            Survivors include his parents Bill and Wanda Ranard of Dugger, IN, wife of 42 years whom he married on October, 12, 1974, Melissa Reynolds Ranard, one son, Matt Ranard and wife, Rachel of Sullivan, IN, their three children, Molly, Sophi, and Gabi, one daughter, Amanda Smith and husband Jay and their three children, Brady, Peyton, and Cooper, a brother, Doug Ranard and wife, Mary Beth of Dugger, IN, and a sister, Marsha Chappell and husband, Dan of Indianapolis, IN, also a good friend Jim Aydelotte of Linton, IN.

            Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, IN with Bro. Nick Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Dugger Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00PM until 8:00PM.
