Arnold D. “Cowboy” Bedwell, 74, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Coal County Hospital in Coalgate, Oklahoma.
He was born on January 30, 1944, in Pleasantville, Indiana, the son of Squire Bedwell and Irene Shake Bedwell. Cowboy served in the Army for almost twelve years. He served five tours in Vietnam and was wounded. He was a member of the VFW Post 1157 in Vincennes, the American Legion Post 139, and the Moose Lodge in Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Barbara Thompson, Betty Martin, and Bessie Fyfe.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Elane Jacob (Mike) of Jasonville, Guyanna Dee Bedwell of New Castle, Emily Diem (Dat) Nguyen of Blaine, Minnesota, and Sharri Lee (Danny) Stefancik of Linton, a brother, Ronald Bedwell of Bunston, Missouri, two sisters, Margaret Shelton (Marvin) of Sullivan, and Evelyn Graniti of Sandborn, twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 23, 2018, at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, Indiana, with Danny Stefancik officiating. Interment will follow in Mt Moriah Cemetery located in Dugger, Indiana, with military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn, and Hymera Posts and the Sullivan VFW. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Newkirk’s Funeral Home.
