Donna Pearl (Burris) Woodward passed away peacefully in Sullivan, IN the morning of March 8, 2017 at the age of 79.

Donna was born to the late Donald and Mabel (Evans) Burris in Sullivan, IN on August 31, 1937.  Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Bill and Herbert; and her sisters Evelyn, Shirley and Betty (who passed as an infant).

Donna is survived by her husband, Jack; her sons, Allan (Anita), Kevin (Denise) and Darren (Natalee); grandchildren Clint (Brittanny), Ryan, Abbie, Noah, Rylie and Allison; and great-grandson Jacob.  Donna was thrilled to be able to meet baby Jacob.  She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Donna graduated from Dugger High School in 1955.  She married her husband Jack in 1964.  She worked at GE in Linton, IN for 13 years.  Donna and Jack raised their three boys in Dugger, IN.  They enjoyed camping at Sullivan Lake for 35 years.  Her fellow C Circle campers became like family to her over the years.

Donna was also an avid basketball fan; she loved IU (specifically Coach Bobby Knight) and followed them religiously.   In recent days she had become a Tom Izzo fan but her family blames that on her medication!  She was always a Bulldog at heart but softened her allegiance due to her grandchildren’s attendance at Robinson, Linton and Sullivan; she was their biggest fan.  She was also an avid Indy/NASCAR fan always loyal to AJ Foyt and Jeff Gordon.

Donna enjoyed staying in touch with her fellow Union High School alumni; she looked forward to the Dugger Coal Festival every year.  Donna met regularly with “the girls” from high school and helped organized many class reunions since their high school graduation.  She loved visiting in person and on the phone and was always interested in what was happening with her many friends and family.

Donna attended Bethel and the Dugger United Methodist Church and most recently was an active member of Faith Community Church in Dugger.  She will be missed by her loved ones who celebrate the fact that she is at peace in her heavenly home.

Visitation will be held at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Newkirk’s Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
