Edward "Ed" Lee Wharff

Edward “Ed” Lee Wharff, 89, of Linton, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on April 23, 1928 in Crawfordsville, Indiana the son of Frank and Ethel (Wooliver) Wharff. Ed was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He worked for Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad as a railroad engineer for 43 years before he retired. Ed was a member of the Greene & Sullivan County Shrine Clubs, Masonic Lodge 560 and past master and member of the Sandborn Masonic Lodge 647.   

Preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Marge Ruth (Cox) Wharff, three brothers; Harold, Otis and Robert Wharff and eight sisters; Louise Kennedy, Marge Hayworth, Edith Fornal, Mary Luby, Judy Kellison, Dorothy Branch, Libby Crouch and Minnie Wharff.

Survivors include son, Edward Brent Wharff (fiancée Elizabeth M. Kolozsvary), two grandsons; Nicolas Edward Wharff and Michael Daniel Kolozsvary. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 8, 2017 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home with Rev. David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery located in Dugger, Indiana. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home. A masonic service will be held at 12:30 PM, May 8, 2017 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home.
