Stanley "Buck" Jobe Obituary

Stanley ‘Buck’ John Jobe, 88 of Dugger, passed away at his home on January 13, 2021. He was born on March 26, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN to Stanley Arthur and Eleanor Florence (Lang) Jobe. Stanley married Rita Rae Richards on July 6, 1953.

 

Stanley is survived by four children – daughter Karen (Doug) Cottingham, son David (Pam) Jobe, daughter Heather Talbott, son Chriss (Angie) Jobe; one son-in-law – Butch Chambers; grandchildren – Jared (Brittnie) Chambers, Brandon (Brittany) Chambers, Jeremy Cottingham, Justin (Tandie) Cottingham, Autumn (Rance) Fosdick, Josh Wright, Tara (Mitch) Byrd, Mick (Haley) Wurtsbaugh, Luke Jobe, Peyton Gilliatt, Jobe Gilliatt, Dane Talbott, Korissa (Zane) Hayden, Isaac Jobe, Lauren Jobe, Ellie Jobe; great-grandchildren – Jaden, Carsyn, Bradie, Oakley, Bristol, Taten, Nathan, Alysia, Renn, Kai, Jae, Addie, Crew, Kerri, Carson, Briar, Hayden, Holden, Josie, Katie; along with two sisters and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rita of 57 years, daughter Teresa (Butch) Chambers, along with three sisters and three brothers.

 

Stanley enjoyed spending time with his family, playing baseball and football in his youth, bowling, fishing, gardening, and watching sports. He was a member of the Catholic Church, a member of the United States Army from 1955 through 1956, and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations. Stanley was a 34-year employee of the United States Postal Service (Indianapolis) where he retired in 1990.

 

A public visitation will be held at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 11:00 am through 1:00 pm. A private family funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home on the day of visitation with Brother J.B. Smith officiating. A burial and military graveside service by the Sullivan, Shelburn, and Hymera Legion Posts and the Sullivan County VFW Post will immediately follow at the Woodward Cemetery.
