Bobby Gene Hawkins, 86, Of Jasonville, IN passed away at 7:59 PM Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born in Midland, Indiana October 26, 1927 the son of Noah Clarence Hawkins and Dola Marie Pope Hawkins.
Gene graduated from Midland High School in 1945, received his Bachelor of Science Degree, and Master of Science Degree from Indiana State University. He was a WWII Marine Merchant, taught school for 37 years, a Principal at Galveston High School and Shakamak Elemetery School. He was also owner and operator of a small farm in Greene Co., IN, and a Minister at the United Methodist Church and Church of Christ in Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, also a daughter Jacqueline Sue Hawkins, a brother, John Frederick “Jack” Hawkins, two sisters, Betty Canada, and Eva Carolyn Clark, one granddaughter Destiny Dawn Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife Bertha Kirk Richardson- Hawkins, one son, Mark Hawkins of Jasonville, IN, two step sons, Charles Wesley Richardson (Peggy) of Lenexa, KS, Kirk Edward Richardson (Rhonda) of Silver Creek, NY, a step daughter, Jennifer Lynn Folkening (Nicholas) of Greenfield, IN, nine grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, IN with Bro. Jerry Carmichael officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN with Military Graveside Rites by the Dugger American Legion. Vistitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday and before services Thursday.
