Carolyn Lee (Near) Enochs

Carolyn Lee (Near) Enochs, 80, of Dugger, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2023, surrounded by family at St. Vincent’s hospital in Indianapolis. Carolyn was born March 5, 1943, to Jim and Estelle Near. She graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, Gary, on November 17, 1963.  She maintained her high school friendships with her 5 best friends, meeting them once a month to spend time with them. Carolyn enjoyed three passions in her life; cooking/baking, her family and most importantly her church.  Carolyn was known throughout the community for her wonderful meals and desserts, and when she wasn’t making meals for her family she was serving meals with her church family.  She was a founding member and very active with Faith Community Church.  She was also a founding member of her Home Ec Club, M.A.D.A.M.S (Many Active Discussions At Monthly Sessions).

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gary J. Enochs; her daughters, Angela Dawn Enochs Boyd (Doug) and Tracy J. Enochs Reeves (Chip); her grandchildren, Tesla Bree Draffin (Reed), Dreyson Quint Boyd (Michelle), Adley Merritt Reeves, Jostin Addison Reeves and Jadin Asher Reeves; her great-grandchildren Rush Atlas Draffin, Lucy Nel Boyd and Pippa Dawn Draffin; along with other family, friends and her Faith Community Church family.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Claude and Paulene Enochs, and her brother, Ronny Near.

Visitation will be from 11 – 2 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Faith Community Church in Dugger, Indiana.   Funeral service at 2:00PM with Rev. Shawn Farris officiating. A private burial service will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Faith Community Church, 5123 S. State Road 159, Dugger, Indiana.
