Derward L. Brewer. 80, six days shy of his 81st birthday of Carlisle, IN passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Greene Co., Indiana May 12, 1945 the son of Foster Brewer and Viles Sexton Brewer. Derwood graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1963, he was a US Army and Air Force Veteran Surviving TET Offensive, a member of the Linton Masonic Lodge #560, Linton American Legion Post #22, and the VFW of Linton, IN. He was a retired Locomotive Engineer at Crane after 37 years and also a Barber for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, also four brothers, Bernard Brewer, Wilson Brewer, Sharain Rex Brewer, Howard Brewer and a sister, Yvonne Tulowitsky. Survivors include the love of his life, wife, Lisa Tuttle Brewer whom he married on October 19, 2005, two sons, Craig Brewer (Jamie) and Eric Brewer (Tonya), a brother, Nelson Brewer (Pam), three grandsons, Adam Brewer (Brittany), Ethan Brewer (Kayla), Jace Brewer and seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3:00PM Friday, May 22, 2026, at Mt Moriah Cemetery with the Linton American Legion Post #22 Honor Guard officiating. Newkirk’s Funeral Home was honored to assist with the arrangements.
