Esther Lou (Myers) Hannum

Esther Lou Hannum, 96 of Dugger, IN passed away Thursday March 5, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

            She was born in Dugger, IN  July 20, 1923, in the home that she lived in, was married in,  and passed away in. Esther was the daughter of Otho E. Myers and Anna Luella Quillen Myers.

            She was a member of the Dugger First Christian Church, the retired teachers Association, and the Dugger Coal Museum. Esther played the piano and organ for over fifty years in the church and for others enjoyment.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-three years that passed away in 1990 James Wallace Hannum, one brother, Robert H. Myers, one sister, Maxine Myers, one grandson-in-law Charles Brandon Cole,  and a great grandson, Ephraim Ross McCann.

            Survivors include one son, Jock Hannum (Nancy) of Dugger, IN, one daughter, Jill Laxton (Mike) of Dugger, IN. five grandchildren, Christina Carpenter (Craig), Jamie Hannum (Allyson), Desson Hannun (Linsey), Megan McCann ( Paul), Jenna Cole, and fourteen great grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held at the Dugger First Christian Church in Dugger, IN on Thursday March 12, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with the Pastor Jerry Carmichael officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday March 11, 2020 at the Dugger Christian Church 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will follow in the Dugger Cemetery in Dugger, IN. Funeral services were entrusted to Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, IN.
