June Ann (Miller) Powell

June Ann Powell, 95 of Dugger, Indiana, passed away August 28, 2022, at Signature Healthcare of Terre Haute, Indiana.

June was born August 20, 1927, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Orval J. Miller and Mildred (Inman) Miller. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Dugger Church of Christ. She was a 1945 graduate of Union High School in Dugger, Indiana, and went on to get her beauty certification at a cosmetology school in Indianapolis, Indiana. June sold Avon for forty years and owned and operated June’s Beauty Shoppe for fifty years out of her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-nine years, Gailon Powell, and one son-in-law, Allen Rogers.

Survivors include two daughters: Gail A. Rogers of Sullivan, Indiana, and Amy L. Howard (Steve) of Shelburn, Indiana. June has one granddaughter: Courtney S. Lynch (Travis) of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, Indiana, 2:00 P.M. September 1, 2022, with Bro. Nick Moore officiating .Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Dugger Cemetery in Dugger, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dugger Church of Christ.
