Kathleen G (Morris) Byard

Kathleen G. Morris Byard, 81, of Martinsville, IN passed away at Grandview Health and Rehab in Martinsville, IN.

She was born in Dugger, IN, December 10, 1936 the daughter of Willie Morris and Bernice Hazelrod Morris. She married John Taylor Byard on August 16, 1959.

Kathleen was a member of the Mt Moriah Methodist Church in Pleasantville, IN, Central Baptist Church in Sullivan, IN, and the New Testament Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN. She was a member of the Republican Club in Sullivan Co., IN, and played the piano for many Church’s.

She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1958, and in 1960 from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN with her Master’s degree. She was a reading aid at Linton Stockton School and a taught in several states.

She was preceded in death by her parents, also her husband, John Taylor Byard, May 22, 2016.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Anne Astleford (Bret) of Martinsville, IN and Melody Byard of Martinsville, IN, three grandchildren, Robert Astleford (Christy), Matthew Astleford, and Daniel Astleford (Johana), four great grandchildren, Claire Ann, Owen Anthony, Cecilia Jane, and Noah Abram.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday April 13, 2018 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, IN. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Dugger, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Thursday April 12, 2018.
