Melvin R. Duckworth, 66, of Dugger, IN passed away at 4:59 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2019 at his residence
He was born in Sullivan County, May 24, 1952, the son of Hubert Duckworth and Inez Bedwell Duckworth.
Melvin was an Air Force Veteran and retired correctional officer at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frederick and Phillip Duckworth, and two grandchildren, Brantlee, and Tori.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years Kathy (Griffith) Duckworth, whom he married on May 11 1985, one son, Ryan Duckworth of Dugger, Indiana, two daughters, Christina Joy Friede (Bob) of Needmore, Indiana, and Nicole Hamburg (Travis) of Dugger, Indiana, one sister, Lisa Duckworth Ball of Linton, Indiana, seven grandchildren, Kaden, Jayden, Eli, Ryleigh, Nicole, Bobby, and Jacob, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, Indiana on Friday, May 17th at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Warren Shake and Pastor Steve Talpas officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16th 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will follow in the Dugger Cemetery in Dugger, Indiana. There will be military gravesite rites by the Linton American Legion Post 22.
