Oliver Thomas Holbert, 73, of Dugger, passed away at 6:35 PM Friday, February 13, 2015 at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital.
He was born in Mishawaka, IN July 3, 1941 the son of Charles Holbert Sr. and Inez Smallwood Holbert.
Oliver was an Army, Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, a retired truck driver from Crane Naval Base, a lifelong member of the Dugger American Legion Post #224 and the Sullivan VFW Post #2459.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Linda Sue Ashcraft Holbert in 2007, also three brothers, Cecil, Dale, and Gary Wayne Holbert, and a grand daughter, Alexis Holbert.
Survivors include three sons; Ronald J. Holbert of Dugger, IN, Mark S. Holbert of Sullivan, IN, and Thomas D. Holbert of West Branch, Iowa, three brothers; Charlie Holbert of Sullivan, IN, Richard Holbert (Joann) of Sullivan, IN, Donald Holbert (Dana) of Shelburn, IN, three sisters, Inez Hiatt (Tom) and Patricia Kemnuier of Sullivan, IN, Elsie Cox of Graysville, IN, one grandson; Jarrett Holbert and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, IN with Rev. James Alumbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Dugger Cemetery with Military graveside rites by the Dugger, Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion Posts and the Sullivan VFW Post. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday.
