Richard Arnold Swan

Richard A. Swan, 85 of Dugger, IN passed away Tuesday June 25, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Dugger, IN June 19, 1939 the son of William Swan and Blanche (Arnold) Swan. Richard was a member of the First Christian Church in Dugger, IN and a retired English / Literature teacher at Sullivan High School for over 30 years. He loved his family, his absolute joy in life was being a grandpa and great grandpa. He also was a storyteller, and had a passion for fishing, hunting and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorthy Jane (Johnson) Swan, who he married on August 7, 1965, also three brothers, Bill, Bob, and Jim Swan and four sisters, Tish Schad, Becky Swan, Mary Ballard and Colleen Johnson.

Survivors include a son, Rick Swan (Marcey) of Switz City, IN, a daughter, Heather Richardson of Dugger, IN, two sisters, Ruth Williams and Lorna Dellion both of Dugger, IN,6  grandchildren, Cody Swan (Jessica), Aedria Alsman, Hunter Swan, Dakota Brown (Skylar) Tayla Whitlock (Levi), Jasmine Richardson, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the First Christian Church in Dugger, IN with Rev. Jerry Carmichael officiating. Burial in the Dugger Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday July 1, 2024 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the First Chrisian Church in Dugger, IN.
