Robert “Bob” Cooper of Sullivan, IN passed away peacefully on the Third of September 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert Allen Marshall was born in San Diego, CA on the third of December 1961. He was the son of the late Guy Marshall of Rock River, WY and Nancy Goldman of Dugger, IN. When his mother remarried, the late George Cooper adopted Bob along with his brother, Ted and sister, Veletta Sue.
Bob is survived by; his wife of 27 years, Danita (Purkiser). His children, Stacey and Ashley, of Palestine IL, Tabitha, of Linton IN and Marissa of Muncie, IN. His brother Paul (Betty) Cooper and sister Julie (Don) Weilersbacher of Dyer, AR. His brother, LCDR Ted (Pam) Cooper, USN (Ret) of Panama City Beach and sister Veletta Sue Taylor of Louisville, KY. Grand children Trey, Cooper, and Jackson Lumm. Also, many nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Bob.
Bob had an abundance of friends, old and new, in his lifetime. He never met a stranger; he loved talking to and learning about people. There was no such thing as a quick trip to anywhere with him.
Bob loved nature and all animals. He never passed up a stray. Literally, stopping the train on occasion to pick them up for a better home, which often meant that animal found a home at his and Danita’s house.
Bob was a member of the Teamsters Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen for 25 years. He worked many long hours, some in the worst weather, to make sure those trains rolled for the Indiana Rail Road.
Bob loved sitting in the pole barn with Danita watching his favorite shows and avoiding Facebook Jail most of the time. He loved watching the raccoons come in and enjoyed their antics. Bob was a Patriot through and through. The Second Amendment was gospel.
Bob knew stuff. He had a talent for art and numbers. He had a sharp wit and wry humor. He could mentally spar with the best of them. His sharp wit was with him to the end. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
