Rosemary L. “Lou” Lucas, 80, of Dugger, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan, Indiana.
She was born on August 2, 1934, in Sullivan County the daughter of Temes Ashcraft and Stella Alumbaugh Ashcraft. Lou worked for Dr. Joe and Betty Dukes for over 50 years. She was a member of the Dugger Church of Christ and taught Sunday school and Ladies Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Lucas in 2001, her parents, three brothers, Clarence Ashcraft, Jeff Kirkpatrick, and Guy Ashcraft, and five sisters, Avis Henderson, Ruby Reynolds, Evah June Singleton, Trenia Tannehill, and (Betty) Charlotte Ashcraft, and special friend, Jessie Ray Brust.
Survivors include Ron (Cindy) Lucas of Sullivan, and Randy (Karen) Lucas of Linton, Jeanne (Gary) Smith of Dugger, and Lori (Cambell) Moses of Shelburn, one sister, Janice (Cliff) Troxell of Auburn, seven grandchildren, Delaney, Gabrielle, Courtney, Isaac, and Jonathon, Bobby, Ross, nine great-grandchildren, Brady, Ella, Christian, Graicen, Aleah, Shayla, Carter, Iris, and Isabella, and several nieces and nephews, a special niece, Sharey Stamps, and special friend, Judy Yuodzukinas.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Newkirk’s Funeral Home with Bro. Buford Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Dugger Cemetery located in Dugger, Indiana. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday Newkirk’s Funeral Home.
