Joan Chanley, 90, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan, Indiana.
She was born on August 8, 1925, in Bucktown, Indiana, the daughter of Floyd Townsley and Tonie Heaton Townsley. Joan married Wayne Chanley on March 11, 1945. She was a member of the Linton First Christian Church.
Joan was a housewife and loving mother. She graduated from Pleasantville High School and Terre Haute Business College. Joan worked at the Citizen’s National Bank and at Wendy’s in Linton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne Chanley who passed away on November 1, 1999, one daughter, Ruth Ellen Chanley, one brother, Olaf Townsley, and one sister, Mildred Lucas.
Survivors include one son, Bill Chanley (Sandy) of Beaumont, Texas, three daughters, Cherry Chanley of Sullivan, Carol Brinegar (Kenneth) of Vincennes, and Becky Pohle (Mike) of Osgood, Indiana, one brother, Bob Townsley (Betty) of Dugger, four grandchildren, Kimberly Chanley, Mark Chanley, Seth Pohle, and Joshua Pohle, and three great-grandchildren, Paul, Alan, and Paige Chanley, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Newkirk’s Funeral Home with Rev. Becky Pohle officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery located in Dugger, Indiana. Friends may call from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Newkirk’s Funeral Home.
