Mary A. “Molly” Gilbert, 103, of Evansville and formerly of Dugger, IN passed away peacefully at 1:04 AM, Wednesday, December, 10, 2014 at Good Samaritan Home in Evansville, IN.
She was born in Newcastle on Tyne, England July 24, 1911, the daughter of John Robert Hill and Mary Ann Horne Hill.
She immigrated in 1913 through Boston, Mass. She graduated from Dugger High School in 1928.
Molly was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Clyde Harrison, second husband, Elmer Gilbert, one son; Frank W. Harrison, one brother; Ralph Hill, two sisters; Roberta Alumbaugh, and Bessie Hill.
Survivors include a step son; Jay Gilbert (Dottie) of Evansville, IN, step daughter; Joyce Povolock (Roger) of Zionsville, IN, a daughter in-law Laverna Harrison of Evansville, IN, five grandchildren; Jeanine Harrison Smith, Rene’ Agerton, Mark Gilbert, Tracy Povolock, and Debbie Ginger, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, one nephew; John Alumbaugh, and three nieces; Anne Sly, Sharon Willen, and Debbie Snapp.
She was a member of the Shelburn Methodist Church, and years ago worked at the Index in Sullivan.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 1:00PM at the Shelburn Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Dugger Cemetery with Rev. Terry Chandler officiating. Visitation will be at the Church from 11:30 until services Saturday. Arrangements were entrusted to Newkirk’s Funeral Home.
